Lutein is a carotenoid, a type of organic pigment with a structure similar to beta-carotene, a well-known precursor to vitamin A. Found in leafy greens like spinach and kale, lutein offers key benefits for skin protection.
It helps filter blue light, and in in vitro studies,1 its has been shown to increase hyaluronic acid2,3. Additionally, lutein is known to decrease oxidative stress4.
